Volunteer Awards

I received an award on the 20th for volunteer of the month for Brigade in February. This is the fourth award I have received since Les deployed. I also received VOM for the spouses club and the battalion. Volunteering is a great way to keep busy and it also benefits the community greatly.

Here's Janet Fortune pinning my Dagger pin on.

Few more basketball pics

That's Lucas jumping for the rebound

and there's Nathan fighting for the rebound-#20

Nathan was still sick that day and didn't get to play, but the coach wanted him in the picture also

Winterfest

At winterfest, the kids had to do Tae Kwon Do demonstrations.
Here's Lucas after jumping over 4 kids and breaking a board with his foot.

There's Nathan on the right end, they were showing self defense moves.

Lucas doing his forms.

Lucas and Jacob getting ready to fight.

Here's Lucas having some fun.

Basketball Jamboree

Our team had a basketball jamboree in Bamberg. They had to play 3 games that day. The first one was at 10 and the last one was at 4. Needless to say, it was a long day. They did win all 3 games. Nathan didn't get to play in any of those games because he was sick with a 103 fever.
The next weekend we had games just to see who was the Schweinfurt Champs. There were 4 teams, so the winners of the 2 games played each other. They won their first game in overtime by 1 point. They played the next day for the championship and also won by 1 point. That was 2 great games. I will post pictures of them and their trophy as soon as I get them. My battery was dead so I didn't get to take any.

These are pictures from their lunch at Burker King. Their coach bought them all lunch that day.

Lucas' Award Assembly

Here are a couple of pictures of Lucas receiving his award for the all A honor roll. He made it in the Golden Knights for having been on the honor roll for 2 consecutive quarters.

Nathan's Honor Roll Award

Here are a couple of pictures of Nathan getting his honor roll award from the principal (at the end of the 2nd quarter)

Dachau Concentration Camp

We vistied Dachau concentration camp while Les was home. The pictures I have posted here are the only pictures I took while there. I didn't feel right taking pictures of a place where such horrible crimes were committed against innocent people. We went to the museum and you just wouldn't believe what those people had to go through. I believe Dachau was the only concentration camp that ran all 12 years of the Nazis era.

This is a picture of the barracks that held up to one thousand prisoners, although they were only built to house a few hundred. There were 33 barracks.

.
This is the gate that all prisoners had to enter through. It is marked with the sentence Arbeit macht frei which means, "Work brings freedom"

This was one of those trips I don't think the boys will ever forget. I leaves an impression on one's soul seeing those things and knowing what happened there.
