Little shops and old buildings

There are chocolate shops all over the place, and yes, we bought chocolate. It was so good and there was so much to choose from it was very difficult to pick without buying a ton.

Another georgous old building...

A very small alley we cut through...

Me and the boys in front of the canal...

There were horse carriage rides all over the city...

I did not know what this building was, I just liked it...

This was one of the oldest buildings we could find with a date on it, although I know there are much older ones, such as the bell tower that we visited.

This was just a statue/fountain along one of the streets. It had a horse head on both sides with watering coming from their mouths.

Walk along the Canals to Minnewater

The Minnewater or Water of Love, is a peaceful, lake-filled park with canals and swans. This was once far from quaint--a busy harbor where small boats shuttled cargo from the big, ocean-going ships into town.

When locals see these swans, they recall the 15th century mayor--famous for his long neck--who collaborated with the Austrians. The townsfold beheaded him as a traitor. The Austrians warned them that similarly long-necked swans would inhabit the place forever to remind them of this murder. And they do...

I couldn't tell if this swan was being friendly and maybe wanted food or if it was going to flog me, so I didn't get to close.

Here is one of the boat tours going along the canal. There was several tours going at the same time all day while we were there. The boats were packed every time, so we didn't bother taking that tour.

Bruges, Belgium

With Renoir canals, pointy, gilded architecture, vivid time-tunnel art, and stay-a-while cafes, Bruges is a heavyweight sightseeing destination, as well as a joy. Where else can you ride a bike along a canal, munch mussels and wash them down with the world's best beer, savor heavenly chocolate, and see Flemish Primitives and a Michelangelo, all within 300 yards of a bell tower that jingles every 15 minutes? And there's no language barrier.
Bruges, Belgium was the first stop along our spring break holiday. We couldn't believe all the historic and lavish things we got to see. I can't thank Meagan enough for recommending that we visit Bruges.
*
Our first stop after we arrived at the trainstation (we drove from Germany, only parked at the trainstation) was to use the restroom, where it required 20euro cents.

This is the front of the trainstation where all you can see is bicycles and mopeds...hundreds of them!!

This is the view from the station looking to the city center, where all the sightseeing is done. The tall building in the back is the Church of Our Lady.

And the front of the trainstation...

Kentucky Basketball!!

Nathan and my dad sitting in the bleachers waiting on the game to start.

Since all my pictures had the UK upside down, I flipped this one and now all the people are upside down.

Final score of the game, KY 69-Tenn Tech 47

Inside Rupp Arena is a variety of stores and restaurants

Here's Nathan and my dad as we were making our way to the other side.

I used this picture of my dad and one of the whole arena to make him a scrapbooked frame for Christmas. It was really nice, with real pictures of him and it said "Kentucky Wildcats Baskball" and had wildcat paw prints on it.

Here's the floor from where we were sitting with the "UK" upside down in all my pictures.
